Ten years ago, the first ideas behind what would later become Black Lines began to take shape.
Drawing had always been part of everyday life at Antikapratika. Coming from a background in tattooing, illustration and visual storytelling, we were fascinated by the possibility of moving those images beyond paper and skin.
At the same time, Marta was beginning a new chapter in her ceramic practice. After attending a porcelain workshop in France with ceramic artist Sasha Wardell, her attention gradually shifted from ceramics towards porcelain and its unique possibilities.
What began as a series of experiments soon became a long-term journey of learning, testing materials and discovering how illustration could live on functional objects.
Porcelain offered something unique: a white surface that felt like a blank page, ready to hold stories, symbols and drawings.
In the early stages, many ideas emerged through conversations, sketches and a shared visual language shaped by years spent working in the world of tattooing. Over time, Marta continued developing the collection, refining both the decorative process and the ceramic techniques behind each piece.
The result became Black Lines: a collection of porcelain cups, mugs and tableware defined by strong black lines, tattoo-inspired imagery.
Today, ten years later, Black Lines remains one of the most recognisable collections within Antikapratika.
Every piece is still made by hand, and every illustration still begins in the same way, with a pencil, a sketchbook and an idea worth exploring.
